International Graduate Student Research Cohort

Exploring the Blue Economy

The annual International Graduate Student Research Cohort (IGSRC) brings together students and faculty from universities in Maine and across the North Atlantic region to collaborate on year-long research projects resulting in publishable papers and a joint presentation at the Arctic Circle Assembly (ACA) in Reykjavik, Iceland. Students and faculty are drawn from a variety of fields, working together in cross-disciplinary manner while pursuing their own research.

This global, collaborative experience doesn’t just end with the cohort—it often becomes a launching point for individual students to bring their work to an international stage. One such example is highlighted in Vivienne Predock’s article, How a USM Student From Portland, Maine Took her Research to the Arctic Circle Assembly, which follows a University of Southern Maine graduate student presenting her research among scientists, policymakers, and scholars from around the world.
